Position Summary

The Adoption Counselor role is vital in selecting the best “fur”ever homes that will provide a loving and safe environment along with a healthy diet. We take pride having the most up-to-date cat care information and in educating potential adopters. We guide approved adopters through the adoption process while suggesting potential purrfect matches. To be successful, it is important to exercise sound judgment, have good communication skills and be professional in all contacts with our adopters.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

Screening Applicants

• Review online applications to ensure compliance with VOKRA policies
• Select and interview applicants via email and phone

Adoption Process

• Provide information at each adoption stage
• Initiate the adopter and cat meeting
• Follow up after the meeting to determine next steps
• Ensure adopter receives all documentation necessary for adoption

Working Conditions

• 100% remote
• Completing 10 hours of comprehensive training, divided into sessions including shadowing live calls.
• Training is delivered virtually; a computer with a camera is required.

Qualifications & Attributes

• Experience with cats
• Adherence to VOKRA adoption policies
• Phone, Computer (with internet and camera) required
• Proficient computer skills (including Microsoft products)
• Proven ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships
• Organized, able to schedule and keep timely appointments
• Available to volunteer 5 hours (minimum) per week
