Nucor Environmental Solutions is seeking an experienced Hazardous Materials Project Manager/Estimator for our Edmonton Office. The Project Manager assumes responsibility for overseeing all aspects of assigned projects, including but not limited to safety, estimating, proposal submissions, initiating projects, reporting, profitability and invoicing/collecting. The Project Manager is accountable for developing the project objectives, defining the project scope, creating the schedule, managing costs and reporting to stakeholders. Interaction will be required between Nucor Environmental Solution’s Abatement divisions in Alberta and British Columbia.
Responsibilities
- Ensure site safety and environmental standards are met or exceeded and implement company safety policies.
- Coordinate and communicate all necessary project safety requirements and ensure procedures are implemented on every project.
- Provide strong leadership and clear direction to field team members.
- Create, update and achieve project schedule commitments within financial targets ensuring project profitability.
- Maintain strong relationships with subcontractors, suppliers, customers, consultants and owners to meet needs and establish future business opportunities.
- Ensure that the quality of the materials and workmanship meet or exceed standards.
- Maintain and track billing, progress reports and monthly cost projections.
- Report monthly accruals to accurately reflect project margin.
- Attend client/site owner meetings as requested.
- Negotiate contracts, change management and claims.
- Assist in ensuring timely payment of invoices.
- Ensure customer satisfaction through the execution of projects.
- Estimating and bidding tenders.
- Build and develop relationships with new and existing clients.
- Participate in the local environmental industry through seminars, industry specific training, and conferences.
Qualifications and Education
- College diploma or university degree is an asset.
- PMP Certification is an asset.
- Fluent in English is an asset.
- Effective oral and written communication skills with the ability to adapt communication style to maintain effective relationships with clients, owners and consultants.
- Strong customer service focus.
- Ability to read and understand contracts, blueprints, drawings and specifications.
- Working knowledge or experience with building construction and demolition.
- Ability to prioritize and multi-task.
- Ability to travel out of town or out of Province when required.
- Must be eligible to work in Canada.
Experience
- Minimum of 5 years of related work experience in construction, demolition, environmental consulting or hazardous materials industry.
- Project Management and estimating background.
- Strong computer literacy with advanced skills in MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel), MS Projects, Sharepoint.
Compensation and Benefits
- Salary: $90,000.00-$100,000.00 per year (dependent on experience; please outline expectations in your cover letter).

Job Details
