Important messages

We are committed to providing an inclusive and barrier-free work environment, starting with the hiring process. If you need to be accommodated during any phase of the evaluation process, please use the contact information below to request specialized accommodation. All information received in relation to accommodation will be kept confidential.

When you apply to this selection process, you are not applying for a specific job, but to an inventory for future vacancies. As positions become available, applicants who meet the qualifications may be contacted for further assessment.

In the context of the RCMP’s mandate, most positions are identified as onsite. Where feasible, as determined by operational requirements, flexible work arrangements (variable work week, flexible start and end times) or hybrid telework model (combination of onsite and offsite work) with a maximum of two days at home may be considered. The options may be discussed with the manager after an initial training period which requires a full time in office presence.

All communication relating to this process, including email correspondence and telephone conversations, may be used in the assessment of qualifications.

Ethical Considerations : The use of AI (Artificial Intelligence) in assessments raises ethical concerns, such as data privacy and security, informed consent, and the potential for unintended consequences. We must uphold ethical standards and prioritize the wellbeing and rights of individuals involved in the assessment process.

In light of these concerns, it is forbidden to use artificial intelligence during the application and assessment process. We are looking for examples of your experience and it must be described in your own words. The use of artificial intelligence could lead to exclusion from the process.

Guidance for Applicants

  • Assume the assessment board does not know the position or the duties associated to the position you are referencing.
  • In describing your accomplishments provide concrete examples, rather than general statements. Your role must be clearly understood during the course of events.
  • You may consider using the S.T.A.R technique to structure your answer: Situation, Tasks, Actions, Results. You may also include the 5Ws & 1H: who, where, when, what, why and how you accomplished the task.
  • Use "I" statements and not "we" or “the team” statements. Focus on your individual role.
  • Provide a complete expression before using acronyms. Do not assume familiarity with field jargon.
  • If a question uses “and” you must demonstrate all required skills or experiences. If it uses “or”, demonstrate at least one.

Work environment

The Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) is Canada’s national police service, with a long-standing presence and a focus on modern, diverse and inclusive practices.

Intent of the process

The intent is to have an inventory of candidates (partially or fully assessed) to draw from when vacancies arise for current and future needs of various tenures in Central Region. Applications will be accepted on an ongoing basis as long as the advertisement is active.

Should a Civilian Member (CM) be found qualified and selected for appointment, the appointment will not result in a change of status to the Public Service (PS) category for the CM.

Applications will be reviewed and applicants selected for further assessment will be contacted based on the needs of the organization.

Assessment will be conducted on an on-going basis.

As we anticipate a large number of applications, we may apply volume management strategies throughout the selection process, including top-down approaches, cut-off scores, and/or random selection.
