Ultrasound Tech/ECHO Technician- Bloomingdale (250003KZ)
Summary

This position produces high-frequency waves (two-dimensional) ultrasonic recordings of the internal organs, heart, circulatory system used by physicians in diagnosis of disease and study of malfunction of the circulatory system. This level IV includes any Echocardiogram (Echo) technologist, ultrasound specialist (breast biopsies, MSK, large joints, vein mapping), or supervisor including site supervisor.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • If in the role of a Supervisor or Site Supervisor must be able to train, guide and support other team members and Facility Administrator.
  • Explains process to patient, and instructs and assists patient in assuming physical position for examination. Verifies that the prescription matches the procedure that is going to be performed; make changes in the billing code/exam title as needed. Record all signs and symptoms for the exam.
  • Selects equipment for use in ultrasound setup according to specifications of examination.
  • Selects transducer and adjusts equipment controls according to organs or circulatory system to be examined, depth of field, and other specifications of test.
  • Keys exam data and patient information into computer of ultrasound equipment to maintain record of exam results.
  • Moves transducer, by hand, over specified area of body and observes sound wave display screen to monitor quality of ultrasonic pattern produced.
  • Operates equipment to produce images of internal organs and records diagnostic data in PAC system. This provides permanent record of examination.
  • Make sure to present any prior studies along with current studies to radiologist for diagnostic assessment.
  • Stock/Order supplies, make patient reminder calls, check ultrasound machine daily for any problems, and any other duties that may be assigned to you daily.
  • All other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Must have two or more registries, and for an Echo technologist registries must be either: Echocardiogram (AE) or Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) (RCS) can include Vascular (RVT) through the ARDMS (RDMS).
  • Current CPR certification.
  • Minimum of one year of experience in a clinic or hospital setting.
  • Knowledge of ultrasound procedures and protocols.
  • Knowledge of customer service concepts and clinic policies including safety, privacy and HIPAA regulations.
  • Knowledge of quality care standards for ultrasound.
  • Knowledge of operating computer and accessing applicable RIS/PACS programs.
  • Skill in production of sonograms meeting physician expectations.
  • Skill in using computer network system competently to process patient and department information.
  • Skill in performing quality exams and exercising compassion with patients.
  • Skill in completing job in a timely manner.
  • Ability to communicate clearly in person and over the phone to establish/maintain cooperative relationships with patients, families, physicians and other staff.
  • Ability to read, understand, and follow oral and written instructions.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients, co-workers, and management.
