UKULELE INSTRUCTOR

Located on the traditional, ancestral and unceded lands of the Musqueam, Squamish, and Tsleil-Waututh Nations, West Vancouver is a vibrant community on the North Shore and home to parks, beaches, and to sports, recreation and arts amenities. We are seeking employees with a passion for public service who share our commitment to creating a complete, inclusive and livable community. Our dedicated staff deliver services, operate facilities and run the programs that enhance the well-being of our community.

The District of West Vancouver Community Services Department is accepting applications for a Ukulele Instructor to teach our group music lessons and private music lessons. This position is based out of the Seniors’ Activity Centre and will involve working with a client group aged 55+. Evening and weekend hours are required for this position.

The successful candidate will have professional training in music, substantial experience in preparing lesson plans, knowledge of community recreation philosophies and instruction techniques, and independently set up, take down, and maintain program space. Desirable qualifications include a university degree in music or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

All applicants must provide a cover letter, resume, and a sample lesson plan for a 3 week/session class or program to be taught.

The successful candidate is required to supply a police information check with vulnerable sector and a copy of their credentials.

Position Status: Non-Union – Casual

Hours of Work: Days and hours of work may vary.

Starting Rate of Pay: $31 per hour plus 4% in lieu of benefits. This position offers a competitive wage based on experience and qualifications.
