Qualifications

  • Proven experience conducting advanced UAV flight missions, including UAV LiDAR mapping and data processing.
  • Strong knowledge of fixed-wing and rotary UAV platforms.
  • Comfortable working in remote FIFO environments with extended workdays.
  • Experience with manual flight control for inspection missions.
  • Passionate about learning and problem-solving.

What You’ll Be Doing
  • Safety First, Always – Take an active role in safety meetings, follow all site‑specific and regulatory requirements, and lead by example to promote a strong safety and quality culture. Ensure all UAV operations comply with Transport Canada regulations and internal standard operating procedures.
  • UAV Flight Operations – Conduct daily and weekly UAV flights using both rotary and fixed‑wing aircraft for mapping, inspection, and LiDAR missions.
  • LiDAR Mapping & Data Collection – Perform UAV LiDAR surveys, ensuring accurate data capture in complex and remote environments.
  • Equipment Management & Maintenance – Maintain and operate a fleet of UAV equipment, including aircraft, GPS units, and a variety of sensors.
  • Regulatory Coordination – Manage correspondence with Transport Canada, including preparing, writing, and submitting SFOC applications.
  • Data Processing & Deliverables – Process UAV and LiDAR data using DJI Terra and Global Mapper, supporting project deliverables and timelines.
  • Survey Support – Perform survey‑related duties as required, including GCP layout and field data collection.
What We’re Looking For
  • Experienced Professional – Proven experience conducting advanced UAV flight missions, including UAV LiDAR mapping and data processing.
  • Qualified & Skilled – Strong knowledge of fixed‑wing and rotary UAV platforms, manual flight control for inspection missions, and automated flight planning software (eMotion 3 or similar).
  • Ready for the Job – Comfortable working in remote FIFO environments with extended workdays (12 hours). Ability to travel based on project demands.
  • Certifications
  • Transport Canada Pilot Certificate – Advanced Operations or L1C (required)
  • ROC-A Radio Certificate (required)
  • Technical Assets – Experience with DJI Terra, Global Mapper, Pix4D, Photoscan, and AutoCAD is considered an asset. Basic to intermediate field survey experience is also an asset.
