Work schedule: 40 hours a week. Monday to Friday - 8 AM to 5 PM with 1 hour for lunch
The Company: Sprinter Towing Ltd. is a vehicle towing company which offers roadside assistance and vehicle repairs on site and in our shop. We have a fleet of 33 tow trucks including Light, Medium, Service vehicles. We have been in business in Winnipeg Manitoba for more than 5 years.
We are looking for 3 experienced Truck Mechanics to join our team. The ideal candidates must understand the tools and techniques used in the field to perform general repairs and maintenance. We seek motivated, self-starter, organized, detail-oriented individuals able to work independently in a team environment with minimal supervision. Successful candidates must be able to diagnose and repair trucks and vehicles quickly and accurately.
Responsibilities
Essential Duties:
- Inspect, service and repair:
- Wheel Lift Tow Trucks / Flatbed Tow Trucks Medium Duty approx. 20,000 LBS
- Brakes (ABS System, Hydraulic Brakes System, Air Brakes system)
- Suspension: Shocks, Spring Leaf, Spring Coils, Ball Joints, King pins, Steering gearbox, rack and pinion, etc.
- Hydraulic: Diagnose and repair hydraulic system, rebuild hydraulic cylinders, hydraulic hoses remove and replace, PTO diagnose/repair/rebuild, hydraulic pumps, check valves, etc
- Drivetrain (Engine, transmission, Axle Shafts, U-Joints, Bearings)
- Vehicle engine (Diesel injection parameters, computerized diagnostic, oil change, etc)
- Adjust, repair or replace parts and components of commercial transport truck systems
- A/C
- Must be able to:
- Drive and repair the fleet where it breaks down, fit it if possible or tow the vehicle back to our shop and repair
- Recondition and replace parts using engine lathes, boring machines, hand tools and precision measuring tools
- Repair and maintain diesel and gasoline engine vehicles according to dealership and factory specifications
- Perform on-site emergency maintenance with company provided vehicle
- Lift up to 50 pounds
- Battery boost, lock out, flat tire change
- Perform battery test or replacement on road
- Perform roadside test
- Provide routine maintenance and repair on all gasoline and diesel-powered vehicles including hydraulic pumps, safety valves, cooling and lubrication systems, cable-operated working attachments, winches, compressors, pumps, electric generators, and other mechanical components
- Keep accurate records of repairs and maintenance performed
- Confirm findings with supervisor to determine whether to repair or replace unit
- Inspect and test mechanical units to locate faults and malfunctions
- Review work orders
- Advise customers on work performed and future repair requirements
- Complete reports to record problems and work performed
- Diagnose malfunctions or problems using computerized systems or testing equipment to determine root cause
- Repair and verify any emission control systems
- Perform tire changes as required
- Follow company health & safety policies
- Troubleshoot
- Ensure compliance with all relevant policies, procedures and government regulations
- Communicate with parts department to obtain needed parts
- Keep shop area neat and clean
- Operate all tools and equipment in a safe manner
- Report safety issues immediately to management
- Perform other duties as required
Qualifications
Employment Requirements
- Completion of secondary school
- Training courses as Mechanic Repair on Diesel Motors
- General knowledge of engine scanning system
- Driver license class 5
- Three to four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
Language Skills: English
- Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients and other employees of the organization. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
Mathematical Skills
- Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's. Use of units of American money and weight measurement, volume and distance. Ability to perform arithmetic operations in all units of measure, including fractions and decimals; compute rate, ratio and percent; interpret bar graphs. Ability to calculate figures such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference and volume; apply basic algebra and geometry concepts.
Reasoning Ability
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
