Key Responsibilities
  • Manage tort files from start to settlement, ensuring accuracy and efficiency throughout the process.
  • Apply knowledge of the Rules of Civil Procedure to maintain compliance and handle litigation tasks effectively.
  • Handle all aspects of file management, including opening, reviewing, scheduling, and maintaining thorough and organized records.
  • Draft and prepare essential legal documents, such as Mediation Briefs, Affidavits of Documents, and Examinations for Discovery.
  • Schedule and coordinate mediations, examinations, and court appearances with precision.
  • Maintain detailed records and client correspondence using TimeMatters, Filevine, PC Law, and PrimaFact software.
  • Conduct legal research and assist in preparing for trials or hearings when required.
  • Monitor deadlines and limitation periods, ensuring timely filings and adherence to court schedules.
  • Liaise with clients, opposing counsel, and court offices to facilitate the smooth progression of files.
  • Organize and prepare documents for settlement negotiations and assist in executing settlements.
Qualifications
  • 4+ years of experience as a Tort Law Clerk, with proven ability to manage files independently.
  • Strong working knowledge of the Rules of Civil Procedure and litigation processes.
  • Proficiency in legal software such as TimeMatters, Filevine, PC Law, and PrimaFact.
  • Excellent drafting skills.
  • Exceptional organizational and time management skills, with attention to detail and the ability to prioritize in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work independently while being an effective team player.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
