Job description
Overview

Team Lead Registered Veterinary Technologist, RVT — Emergency Department. Location: Victoria, BC. Central Victoria Veterinary Hospital is looking for an experienced RVT with leadership experience to join our Emergency team.

This role combines the excitement of Emergency care with leadership responsibilities, working closely with the RVT-led leadership team, the Medical Director, and other team leads. The position offers a mix of time in the ER and administrative responsibilities with a daytime-focused schedule. Team leads are on call for one of every four weeks to respond to concerns remotely. Advanced learning opportunities are available with our Technical Development Officer and Specialists.

Responsibilities
  • Lead, coach, and mentor the RVT team; provide orientation and training for new team members and assist with performance management
  • Create schedules, monitor workflow, and ensure smooth operations
  • Maintain a high level of patient care and client service
  • Identify and address concerns or conflicts proactively
  • Attend regular leadership meetings to discuss challenges/solutions, new ideas, and clinic initiatives for the whole hospital
  • Perform clinical procedures as appropriate (venipuncture, catheter placement, radiology, anesthesia monitoring, and patient assessment)
  • Willing to further enhance technical skills
  • Thrive in a steady and often fast-paced environment
  • Demonstrate exceptional interpersonal skills with colleagues and pet parents
  • Keep accurate patient records and demonstrate strong problem-solving abilities
  • Have a love of pets
Qualifications
  • Registered Veterinary Technologist (RVT) or eligible to register
  • Ability to lead, coach, and mentor the team; support new team members, conduct check-ins, and assist with performance management
  • Experience creating schedules and monitoring workflow to ensure smooth operations
  • Commitment to high-quality patient care and client service
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail in patient records
