Qualifications

Responsibilities
  • Completion of T1 tax returns for insolvency clients
  • Understanding basic bookkeeping and tax engagements
  • Manage multiple files simultaneously
  • Summarize clients’ current financial status by collecting information
  • Review, investigate and correct discrepancies in tax returns and financial information
  • Ability to communicate and deal with CRA and regulatory bodies as needed
  • Prepare correspondence and reports to management
  • Assist with administering formal insolvency appointments including bankruptcies and proposals
  • Develop effective working relationships with clients while coaching and mentoring junior team members
  • Participate in business development initiatives and identify new business opportunities
  • Maintain flexibility to travel, as necessary
Skills and Experience
  • Ability to work under tight deadlines
  • 3 to 4 years of relevant bookkeeping and accounting experience
  • Bachelor’s degree or diploma in a related field is considered an asset
  • General knowledge of relevant income and excise tax acts
  • Experience working with accounting and tax software
  • Understanding of business, accounting, management and practice development principles
  • Experience with bankruptcy and insolvency an asset
