Job description

POSITION SUMMARY

We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced tax professional to manage Canadian tax compliance and provisions for our Canadian entities. This role is responsible for ensuring accurate and timely preparation of annual corporate tax returns (T2s), preparing quarterly tax provisions in accordance with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS), and maintaining current and accurate calculations of key Canadian tax attributes.

WHAT YOU WILL DO
  • Preparing quarterly tax provisions for Canadian legal entities in accordance with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).
  • Preparing Canadian corporate tax returns and filings (including T2s, T5s, and T1134s), and conducting related research and analysis.
  • Overseeing audit query responses pertaining to Canadian tax issues.
  • Assisting with the Reg.105 withholding process.
  • Compiling / maintaining NFI Group’s Canadian cash tax instalment requirements.
  • Assisting with the implementation of Longview tax provision software.
  • Ensuring all internal control requirements are met (e.g., proper sign-offs, evidence of file review retained).
  • Updating process documentation quarterly as required.
  • Managing various internal reorganization activities.
WHAT YOU NEED TO BE SUCCESSFUL
  • Canadian CPA Designation.
  • Completion of, or enrollment in, the CPA Canada In-Depth Tax Program; or a Canadian Master of Taxation degree.
  • 5+ years of Canadian tax compliance and IFRS provision experience required.
  • Prior Canadian Manufacturing industry tax experience in a public company or with a large public accounting firm highly preferred.
  • International/US tax experience an asset.
  • Proficiency in MS Excel; experience with Canadian tax preparation and research software considered an asset.
  • Curious, principled and decisive with strong business acumen.
