Salary Range: $59,711 to $109,520 (based on length of service and qualifications in accordance with the collective agreement)

Required Abilities, Qualifications and Experience:
  • extensive academic training, professional preparation, and qualifications in teaching in all areas of this assignment
  • knowledge of, and demonstrated application of the Ministry of Education's current philosophy, teaching practices, and evaluation/assessment/reporting procedures as applied to all areas of this assignment
  • Knowledge of and demonstrated ability to implement teaching practices that align with the Professional Standards for BC Educators.
  • Appropriate professional preparation in the teaching of Technology Education; a diploma certificate in Technology Teacher Education (TTED) is required.
  • extensive experience in teaching Technology Education (Metal Work, Woodwork, Robotics)
  • extensive training and experience in using industry standard shop equipment
  • demonstrated understanding of the curriculum organizers as documented in the Curriculum Competencies for all areas of this assignment
  • demonstrated ability to suitably employ a variety of instructional strategies to achieve the desired learning outcomes
  • demonstrated ability to devise a variety of assessment processes that effectively allow students to demonstrate what they know
  • demonstrated ability to organize and manage an effective and safe technology program
  • demonstrated ability in using formative assessment strategies and the ability to develop appropriate instructional strategies for all assignment areas
  • demonstrated ability in using a variety of technology within the classroom to enhance learning
  • demonstrated ability to adapt or modify curriculum for students who are experiencing difficulties
  • proven ability to differentiate instruction for a variety of developmental stages and ability levels
  • demonstrated sensitivity, awareness and understanding of adolescent development and enthusiasm for working, and developing positive relationships, with adolescents
  • familiarity with and supportive of a restorative approach to student discipline
  • demonstrated ability to incorporate a wide range of effective classroom management strategies to resolve discipline problems and still maintain the dignity of young adolescents
