A government organization in BC is seeking a Social Work Assistant to support the North Shore Intake Team in child protection. The role involves interacting with children, families, and service providers, assisting with case management and investigations related to child welfare. Candidates should have a background in human services, a valid BC Driver's License, and a passion for supporting vulnerable communities. This is a full-time on-site position in a collaborative work environment.
The Team
The Ministry of Children and Family Development promotes and develops the capacity of families and communities to care for and protect vulnerable children and youth and supports healthy child and family development to maximize the potential of every child in BC. The North Shore Intake Teams consists of ten dedicated child protection workers and two experienced team leaders. Our office is conveniently located just steps from the Sea Bus in the heart of beautiful Lonsdale Quay. The close-knit team is known for its strong collaboration and supportive environment. As a social work assistant, you’ll play a key role in supporting a dynamic, high-energy group of professionals committed to making a difference in the lives of children and families.
The Role
This position supports the North Shore Intake Team of child protection workers. It interacts with children, families, youth in care and foster parents and provides case management assistance to Ministry social workers, clinicians, and probation officers who maintain case management responsibility for service delivery. Key responsibilities include assisting in the conducting of child abuse/neglect investigations, supporting youth-in-care (YIC) and service providers in independent living plan; implementing planned moves of children-in-care (CIC), maintaining contact with CIC, foster parents and families; and other related duties as required.
