The Opportunity

McElhanney has an opportunity for a Survey Technician to join our team in NW, BC. Reporting to the Division Manager, you will work under the direction of the Project Manager to complete projects in the field in an accurate, timely, and efficient manner to meet contractual and legal obligations. You may be involved in engineering, construction, or legal surveying in urban and/or rural areas.

What You’ll Do
  • Take direction from Project Manager to understand the following: project objectives, allocated budgets, goals, schedules, and timeframes.
  • Field completion of various types of surveys including engineering, construction, and legal surveys.
  • Liaise between Project Manager and onsite client representative.
  • Manage information flow from field to office and prepare clear, concise and accurate field notes, records and calculations.
  • Ensure implementation of quality assurance, safety, and policy compliance.
What You’ll Bring
  • Two-year technical diploma in geomatics or civil engineering, or equivalent experience in a similar role, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Physically fit, able to lift heavy equipment, willing to work in various environmental conditions with varied terrain, able to work in wildlife populated areas, and willing to work in remote areas for extended periods and varied hours.
  • Experience with Trimble Business Centre is an asset.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills, attention to detail, good attendance, sound judgment skills, and general computer knowledge.
  • You can choose to be located in Prince Rupert, Terrace or Kitimat.
  • Valid (or in progress) Class 5 driver’s license.
What Can We Offer You?

The salary range for this position is $62,000 - $90,000 per annum. McElhanney offers fair compensation that is commensurate with the individual’s education, experience, skills, and professional qualifications. The posted base salary/wage range is representative of the required level of qualifications and experience for the position as noted in the job posting. The salary offered will be based on the experience and qualifications of the successful candidate.
