The Opportunity

Global Raymac is seeking experienced Survey Crew Chiefs to support our growing operations in Fort St. John (BC) and Grande Prairie (AB). You will work on a wide variety of Pipeline and Oil & Gas projects, utilizing the latest remote sensing technologies including terrestrial laser scanners, GNSS, and UAVs. This is an excellent opportunity to join a dynamic, technology-driven team and contribute to high-impact projects across Western Canada.

Role Summary

Reporting to a Project Manager, you will lead field crews to complete surveying projects safely, accurately, and efficiently. Work will take place in both urban and rural environments, supporting Oil & Gas, Municipal, Construction, and Engineering projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead field crews and communicate project scope, schedule, and expectations.
  • Perform legal land surveys for Oil & Gas, Municipal, Engineering, and Construction clients.
  • Conduct conventional, GNSS, and remote-sensing surveys using laser scanners and drones.
  • Supplement field work with remote sensing technologies (terrestrial scanning, UAVs).
  • Perform field calculations and interpret survey plans, architectural drawings, and engineering designs.
  • Prepare accurate field notes, sketches, layout information, and digital data for office processing.
  • Assist Project Managers by reporting progress, documenting scope changes, and meeting project budgets and timelines.
  • Participate in HSE and Quality Management activities, including reporting, inspections, and audits.
  • Operate ATVs, UTVs, or snowmobiles for remote site access when required.
  • Represent Global Raymac professionally when interacting with clients and contractors.
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to Survey Assistants.
Qualifications & Competencies
  • 3–5 years of experience as a Survey Crew Chief or similar field-based geomatics role (Pipeline and/or Oil & Gas experience considered a strong asset).
  • Diploma or degree in Geomatics, Surveying, or equivalent experience.
  • Proficiency with Trimble GNSS equipment and software.
  • Experience with laser scanning, drones, and line locating considered an asset.
  • Strong spatial recognition, problem-solving ability, and attention to detail.
  • Comfortable working in all weather conditions and all seasons.
  • Willingness to work away from home for extended periods when required.
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driver’s abstract.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to produce accurate, legible field notes.
  • Ability to work cooperatively on a team, make critical field decisions, and maintain a high level of professionalism.
