Maritime Veterinary Emergency + Specialty Centre is seeking a dedicated Veterinary Technician Assistant to support our Surgery team. Opened in May 2024, our brand‑new, 24,000‑square‑foot hospital in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, delivers high‑quality emergency and specialty care to pets across the greater Halifax Regional Municipality. Compensation
  • $20–$26/hour, based on skill level and assessment
Schedule
  • Targeting four 10‑hour shifts per week (days)

About the Job

We’re looking for a passionate, team‑oriented individual to join our veterinary team as a Technician Assistant. In this vital role, you’ll support both our medical team and clients by helping deliver exceptional patient care and service. From hands‑on animal care to client communication, your days will be fast‑paced, meaningful, and full of opportunities to learn and grow.

Key Responsibilities Include:
  • Assisting with diagnostic procedures, radiographs, and IV setups
  • Collecting samples and operating/maintaining laboratory equipment
  • Providing compassionate animal handling and restraint, even with challenging patients
  • Supporting patient care needs like cleaning, walking, and feeding
  • Helping maintain accurate client and patient records, billing, and estimates
  • Demonstrating calm and efficiency during emergency situations
  • Assisting with client communication, including phone calls, patient updates, and check‑ins
  • Presenting estimates and processing payments
  • Ensuring a clean, welcoming hospital environment (kennels, treatment areas, exam rooms, etc.)
  • Participating in team rounds to ensure continuity of care
  • Providing top‑tier customer service with empathy and professionalism
  • Contributing to a positive, collaborative team culture
