Job summary

A leading shipbuilding company in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia is seeking a Supply Chain Co-op student to support various new construction projects. You will assist in project management tasks, develop processes, and engage with internal teams to drive success. Ideal candidates are currently enrolled in a related 4-year degree program and possess strong communication and problem-solving skills. This position requires full-time, in-office presence and offers opportunities to learn in the shipbuilding industry.

Responsibilities
  • Supporting the Supply Chain Integration team with assigned Project Management tasks to include deliverables management and coordination associated with delivery of chartered projects linked to Supply Chains Long Term Strategy.
  • Help with development of processes, KPIs, reporting, and training.
  • Leverage strong communication skills to engage with internal stakeholders across several departments, including Engineering, Production, and Supply Chain to prepare and deliver internal and external progress updates.
  • Completion of project & team performance reporting.
  • Compile and review cost reports, which may also include review of all cost calculations and journal entries to resolve variances.
  • Lead daily management activities, including Purchase Order approvals, forecast review and vendor historical analysis. Ensure timeliness and accuracy of deliverables.
Qualifications
  • Currently enrolled in a 4-year degree program from the following areas:
    • Business Administration
    • Commerce
    • Engineering
  • 0-2 years\' experience.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite, openness to learning new systems.
  • Skilled in organizing and managing a variety of tasks with varying priorities and is a fast learner and effective problem solver.
  • Strong academic performance.
  • Interest in the shipbuilding, defense, or marine industry and a desire to join an exciting, fast-paced organization.

Due to the nature of work Irving Shipbuilding does, all successful applicants must meet requirements for the Canadian Controlled Goods Program (CGP), Canadian Government Security clearance, and U.S. International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).

Please note this position requires a full-time, in-office presence.
