Job summary

A regional government entity in West Kelowna is seeking motivated students for summer/co-op positions across various departments such as Engineering, Planning, and Parks. These roles offer valuable hands-on experience and require applicants to be enrolled in a post-secondary institution, possess strong computer and communication skills, and hold a valid driver's license. The positions are either 4 or 8 months long with competitive hourly rates from $20.23 to $25.29, plus additional pay benefits.

Summer/ Co-op Student Positions

The City of West Kelowna is seeking enthusiastic and motivated students to join our team for the summer term. These positions provide valuable hands‑on experience in municipal operations and services, offering an opportunity to contribute to your community while developing practical skills.

Student positions are available in the following departments:
  • Engineering
  • Planning
  • Utilities
  • Parks
  • Recreation & Culture
  • Roads & Construction
  • Water Supply & Treatment
Requirements include but are not limited to:
  • Current enrollment in a post‑secondary institution
  • Must be attending college or university during the last school term and returning to studies in the subsequent academic year
  • Demonstrated computer skills in Microsoft Office
  • Excellent communication/interpersonal skills – verbal and written
  • A valid Class 5 BC Driver’s License; Driver’s Abstract required when applying (Class 7 also accepted)

The students will work either from May until the end of August for 4‑month positions, or May until the end of December for the 8‑month co‑op student positions. Hours of work range from 35 to 40 hours per week depending on the department. The hourly rate ranges from $20.23 to $25.29 plus 14% in lieu pay.
