GeoSpectrum Technologies is growing and we are looking to add a Subcontract Specialist to our team!

The Subcontract Specialist plays a key role in supporting our projects by overseeing subcontracting activities and ensuring alignment with company standards. In this role, you’ll help build and maintain strong vendor relationships while coordinating the sourcing of specialized equipment, materials, and services across both commercial and defense programs. You’ll draw on your technical knowledge of marine products and systems to collaborate closely with Major Programs, Engineering, and Manufacturing teams. Together, you’ll help meet the unique technical and regulatory needs of each project and contribute to our overall project success.

Responsibilities
  • Subcontract Management: Oversee the entire subcontracting process, from solicitation to contract closeout, ensuring all activities are conducted in accordance with company policies and industry standards.
  • Contract Negotiation: Assist in negotiations with subcontractors to secure favorable terms and conditions, ensuring alignment with project requirements and budget constraints.
  • Compliance: Ensure all subcontracting activities comply with legal, regulatory, and company requirements, including environmental and safety standards.
  • Risk Management: Identify and mitigate risks associated with subcontracting activities, developing contingency plans as necessary.
  • Internal Customer interface: Work with internal SMEs and technical authorities throughout the contracting process to validate conformance to technical requirements.
  • Performance Monitoring: Monitor subcontractor performance, ensuring timely delivery of goods and services, and addressing any issues that arise.
  • Non-Conformance Management: Manage Supplier related NCRs and ensure all quality OQE is received in a timely manner to support the rectification of the non-conformance.
  • Relationship Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with subcontractors, fostering collaboration and ensuring mutual success.
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all subcontracting activities, including contracts, amendments, and correspondence.
  • Reporting: Prepare regular reports on subcontracting activities, performance metrics, and risk assessments for senior management.
  • Continuous Improvement: Refine and update procurement processes to meet the needs of internal customers and suppliers.
Qualifications
  • Post-secondary education in Supply Chain Management or relevant career experience.
  • Minimum five (5) years working in supply chain, specifically sourcing and managing highly technical specialized subcontract services and materials.
  • Demonstrate the ability to oversee multiple, complex projects and contracts.
  • Advanced financial and commercial business acumen.
  • Proven successful negotiation and contract management skills.
  • Knowledge and experience with Canada’s Industrial and Technological Benefits (ITB) Policy, trade agreements and various procurement strategies/approaches.
  • Knowledge of industry-specific regulations and standards.
  • Valid NS drivers’ license and Canadian passport is required.
Security Requirements
  • All candidates must be eligible to apply for and maintain Canadian Controlled Goods and Canadian Government Security Clearances.
  • Candidates must have a social insurance number, have lived in Canada for the past five consecutive years, and be legally entitled to work in Canada under relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations.
