At General Dynamics Land Systems-Canada, we manufacture Light Armoured Vehicles in our on-site production facility. The Design Engineering student role supports full life cycle design activity on any assigned tasks within an assigned subsystem and will assist in overcoming design challenges. In addition, to assist the team in design fit, form, & functionality, ensuring compliance to requirements across the team.

Key Job Elements and Responsibilities
  • Complete discrete assigned design tasks while keeping supervisor regularly informed on progress.
  • Ensure all designs are peer reviewed by technical lead or assigned mentor.
  • Identify and share opportunities for self development.
  • Maintain active and professional communication with all involved stakeholders.
  • Share continuous improvement ideas.
  • Support quality and RCCA related activities as requested.
Required Qualifications
  • Student in good standing and on track to achieving a University degree or College Diploma in relevant engineering discipline
  • Superior oral and written communication, interpersonal and organizational skills
  • Ability to travel (5% Canada) and (5% US & International) and possess/be able to acquire and maintain a valid passport
  • Must be able to meet Anthropometrical Size Requirements for confined space
Preferred Experience
  • Experience with Teamcenter Active Workspace or similar PLM software.
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment and/or hands on practical experience.
  • Proficiency with Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
  • Knowledge of Configuration Management principles.
