Job description

We are currently looking for an experienced full-time Shop Foreman to join our team!

Our company has become synonymous with high quality service for commercial and industrial customers throughout the Lower Mainland, who are looking for structural steel fabrication and professional welding services.

We are a growing company, creating opportunities for our employees to learn and grow, while continuing to provide the high level of service and quality workmanship our customers have come to rely on us for.

Our busy steel fabricating shop requires a highly motivated individual who is familiar with structural and miscellaneous metal installations to oversee the day-to-day running of our facility and yard.

We fabricate and install structural and miscellaneous items such as columns, beams, stairs, canopies, railings, and brackets, virtually anything for the construction industry in the commercial and light industrial space.

Reporting to our Operations Manager, you will be responsible for all the fabrication work needed for all our projects.

Specific Duties Include:

  1. Schedule:
    • Work closely with Operations Manager to develop work schedules for jobs
    • Deliver finished product to meet project deadlines
    • Coordinate daily tasks of team members to meet project deadlines and priorities
  2. Quality Control:
    • Implement quality control standards in the shop
    • Address any customer issues and complaints on a timely basis
  3. Inventory and Equipment:
    • Ensure inventory of materials maintained to meet project needs
    • Ensure maintenance and replacement of equipment as required
    • Make plans for new equipment purchases to meet growth needs of company
  4. Policies and Procedures:
    • Enforce health and safety policies in the shop and yard
    • Train and mentor employees as needed

We are looking to improve our current shop layout and flow of materials to improve efficiency.

In addition to the above duties, we are looking for our Shop Foreperson to lead a special project to examine current flow of materials through the shop and come up with a better, more efficient way of doing things.

Skills & Experience (required):

  • Minimum of 5 to 10 years Fabrication experience on structural & miscellaneous metals
  • Red Seal fabrication ticket
  • Welding Supervisor ticket
  • Active CWB tickets MCAW / FCAW
  • Aluminum and Stainless experience
  • Reliable transportation and valid BC Driver’s License REQUIRED.
  • Flexibility with working overtime and weekends.
  • Experience working in a shop with an ERP system preferred.

This is a Full-time position, 40 hours per week.

Salary of $40.00 - $45.00 per hour, depending on experience.
