We are currently seeking a talented and experienced Structural Plans Examiner to join our team of professionals. This position offers great opportunity for dynamic, motivated self-starters to work on a variety of work assignments. RESPONSIBILITIES

Primarily review structural plans for construction projects.

  • Reviews plans and specifications for projects to ensure compliance with city, State of CA, and federal laws and regulations. Provide timely oral and/or written communication detailing design and/or construction deficiencies in plans and specifications.
  • Review building permits with regards to regulations set by the Building Divisions
  • Assist inspectors with difficult or unusual code compliance issues and answer questions from inspectors about plan review comments.
  • Cultivate, foster, and maintain positive working relationships with directors, managers, supervisors, employees, and other stakeholders to gain their cooperation and support on assigned projects/assignments.
KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS
  • Experience with CA Codes specific to Structural design
  • Experience/knowledge of wood, concrete, steel and masonry buildings/structures, including CBC, CRC, ASCE7, NDS, AISC, ACI318, ACI530 and AISI standards.
  • Experience/knowledge of wood, steel and concrete lateral load resisting systems (SMF, OMF, BRBF, SCBF, wood and concrete shear walls, etc.)
  • Experience/knowledge of structural design software (i.e. ENERCALC, ETABS, SAP, RISA, ADAPT, HILTI Profis, Simpson Anchor design, etc.)
  • Extensive knowledge of local building codes and current construction procedures/technology
  • Interpretation of codes in the field and ability to provide code compliant solutions
  • Must possess the ability to positively interact with the other staff members, the general public, contractors, governmental entities, and other clientele
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills are vital
  • Good time management, organization, and attention to detail skills
  • Demonstrated ability to exercise initiative and a considerable amount of independent judgment
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
  • Structural Professional Engineer Required
  • ICC Plan Review Certifications in multiple trades preferred
  • Valid driver’s license with good driving record
  • E.I.T. on track to obtain PE license is acceptable.
  • 5+ years' experience in structural design and structural plan review.
COMPENSATION

Salary Range: $50.00 - $70.00 per hour
