Qualifications

  • Registered as a Professional Engineer (P. Eng.) within Ontario in Civil or Structural Engineering.
  • At least six years of relevant experience in the design of concrete and steel structures.
  • In-depth knowledge and skills for mining and/or industrial projects.

WSP’s Resources subsector, part of the ERI (Energy, Resources and Industry) sector, supports clients across Canada. Our services include economic studies, project management, detailed design, procurement, site management, commissioning, and industrial programming. The division offers a full range of services for industrial and mining projects, from conceptual and feasibility studies to complete detailed engineering in EPCM and mine site closure and dismantling. Opportunity

WSP is seeking a Structural Engineer for our Sudbury, Ontario office. In this role you will tackle new construction and rehabilitation projects for institutional and government clients. From conceptual design to project completion you will apply structural design skills to deliver exceptional results, champion technical excellence, ensure cost efficiency, build strong client relationships, and mentor a talented design team.

What you can expect to do here:
  • Complete structural designs and calculations for buildings and industrial structures (Mining and Industrial Plants).
  • Make technical decisions and take responsibility on technical matters.
  • Design management with input from senior engineers on technical decisions.
  • Coordinate with various disciplines required for project implementation.
  • Write and review technical reports and construction specifications.
  • Site investigation, inspection, and evaluation of existing structures.
  • Occasional travel to various client sites, attend meetings and conduct field reviews.
  • Other duties as assigned.
What you’ll bring to WSP:
  • Registered as a Professional Engineer (P. Eng.) within Ontario in Civil or Structural Engineering.
  • At least six (6) years of relevant experience in the design of concrete and steel structures in Canada.
  • In-depth knowledge and skills for mining and/or industrial projects.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office.
  • Proficiency in Canadian Codes and Standards.
  • Proficiency in structural design software (S-Frame, STAAD Pro, or SAP).
