Job Description:

The Structural Designer will be responsible for the accurate and timely preparation of the design and analysis for telecommunication sites. The successful candidate will be working with a robust team of distinctly talented people to safely deliver exceptional service to clients. This position performs a combination of office work and field work. Skyline Engineering is committed to providing extensive mentoring and promote professional development.

What Will You Do

Here is a glimpse of your daily duties:

  • Visit sites for general conformance and perform groundwork on a variety of inspections;
  • Climb telecommunication towers;
  • Write technical reports; Complete design calculations; and Keep detailed records of all work;
  • Develop knowledge of the tower industry, Client specifications, Canadian codes, and standards;
  • Complete review of drawings, and RFI’s during construction phase of projects;
  • Manage time spent on design tasks to meet established project-specific workplans;
  • Utilize engineering software in the analysis of structural building components;
  • Double checks all inspection photos and field notes to detect deficiencies;
  • Work with the Field team, inspector, drafters, and Engineers;
  • And the ability to take initiative and demonstrate problem solving skills to develop and enhance your learning.
What You Will Need

Here is a summary of the requirements for this position:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent education in a related discipline;
  • Certified for Working at Heights, Rescue at Heights, and First Aid;
  • Solid understanding of designing in structural steel; and telecommunication structures engineering experience (is an asset);
  • Proficient with AutoCAD and Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word &Excel etc.).
  • Capability to work independently and in a team;
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and work under pressure;
  • Fluent in oral and written English;
  • And a Valid driver’s license.
