A university in Canada seeks a Strategic Communications Advisor to develop media relations and communication strategies. The ideal candidate has a background in communications and public relations, with strong writing and storytelling skills. This role involves advising senior leaders and managing internal communications as part of an integrated team.
Strategic Communications Advisor
Reporting to the Director of Marketing and Communications, the Strategic Communications Advisor is a key member of the University Relations team. The position is located at Ayamdigut Campus (Whitehorse), is permanent, and requires 75 hours bi‑weekly. Wage: TBD. Employment Opportunity No. 25.139. Closing date: November 30th, 2025.
The role involves coordinating media relations and communications activities and providing advice, support, services, and training to a diverse client base that includes YukonU senior leadership.
Our preferred candidate is a storyteller at heart, with a blend of education and experience in delivering communications strategies, campaigns, and products, and working as part of an integrated communications and marketing team. They have a knowledge of post‑secondary institutions and a strong understanding of Yukon First Nations history and context. Expertise in research or science communication is an additional asset.
