Position: Staff Blockchain Security Architect

Location: Remote (Canada)

Salary: $217,900 CAD/year + bonus + equity + benefits

Overview

Coinbase seeks a seasoned Blockchain Security Architect to safeguard its blockchain platforms and protocols. You’ll play a key role in securing smart contracts, infrastructure, and onchain development, working at the forefront of crypto innovation to support Coinbase’s mission of increasing global economic freedom.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform security assessments, threat modeling, and framework development for protocols and smart contracts
• Advise engineering teams on secure architecture and code
• Lead development of internal blockchain security tools
• Track innovations like zero-knowledge proofs, new protocols, and blockchain upgrades
• Publish findings and speak on security issues and risks
• Drive automation and cross-functional security initiatives

Qualifications

• 8+ years in blockchain (4+ in blockchain security)
• Deep knowledge of EVM chains, smart contracts, and crypto custody threats
• Familiarity with DeFi, DEXs, NFTs, bridging, and restaking
• Proven ability to lead, mentor, and collaborate across teams
• Excellent communicator with both technical and non-technical stakeholders

Preferred

• Experience with non-EVM blockchains, zk-SNARKs, FHE, and MPC
