What You will Be Doing

The Enterprise Advanced Analytics and Artificial Intelligence team is the center of AI excellence within CIBC and is leading the way in applying the best practices in artificial intelligence, machine learning and natural language processing, leveraging the latest technology and platforms. We collaborate with leading academic institutes in the space of AI and machine learning to promote the exchange of ideas and enrich our talent. Our work covers every aspect of the research life cycle, from partnering with academia to building production systems. We work with product, technology, and business partners to apply the state of the art in AI to our business. With your defined practical experience in the domain of Artificial Intelligence, you will apply your knowledge and experience of advanced modelling to solve challenging business problems and build innovative solutions. You’ll interact with groups across the organization from products, segments, marketing to channels, risk and capital markets. You’ll work with real world structured and unstructured datasets to produce end-to-end solutions, taking models from experiment to deployment.

At CIBC we enable the work environment most optimal for you to thrive in your role you’ll have the flexibility to manage your work activities within a hybrid work arrangement where you’ll spend 1-3 days per week on-site, while other days will be remote.

How You’ll Succeed
  • AI Expertise - Provide advanced analytics solutions to solve business problems leveraging statistics, machine learning, natural language processing, GenAI, and optimization techniques. Ability to conduct self-directed research, typically using non-traditional resources to solve business problems.

  • Analytical Partner - You will work with business units to understand their needs, opportunities and pain points. Translate data to insights and inform decision making. Focus on relationship building and become the trusted analytical partner.

  • Intellectual Curiosity and Continuous Improvement - Maintain a strong desire to enhance our AI/ML techniques and approaches. Collaborate with data experts to understand data and engineer relevant features. Work effectively with fellow AI scientists and engineers to develop data products. Mentor junior team members and offer technical thought leadership.

Who You Are
  • You have a degree in Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, Computer Science, Software Engineering, Statistics, Mathematics, Economics, or a related field.

  • You can demonstrate experience in machine learning, natural language processing (NLP), natural language understanding (NLU), and/or other AI techniques with TensorFlow, PyTorch, scikit-learn, etc.

  • Extensive hands-on experience with at least one AI toolkit, such as Python, or R. Proficient in writing SQL/ Spark scripts, developing robust and efficient modular Python code in a non-notebook environment, creating APIs, and working with Git version control tools.
