Job description
Overview

Do you have a passion for nursing? Do you want to extend your nursing knowledge? We have a training opportunity that may interest you! We are seeking a motivated Registered Nurse with a dedication for delivering compassionate patient care to join our team in the Operating Room department at Fort St. John Hospital.

Responsibilities & Education

Under the direction of the Operating Room Head Nurse, the OR/P.A.R. nurse provides direct nursing care to the peri‑operative patient according to established standards and policies and provides work direction to nursing and non‑nursing staff as required. The OR/P.A.R. nurse assesses the physical and psychological needs; plans, implements, evaluates, and documents the nursing care for the patient during the peri‑operative process, and the immediate post‑operative period. Nursing responsibilities include scheduled on‑call responsibilities.

The Northern Health Regional Operating Room Education (RORE) uses a standardized, evidence‑informed online curriculum offered by the Association of Registered Nurses (AORN), called Periop 101. This curriculum is offered throughout British Columbia, contributing to a standardized provincial peri‑operative education program, along with provincial continuity of care and portability of practice. RORE combines AORN’s Periop 101 online curriculum with a skills lab and clinical preceptorship to help prepare nurses to provide safe and competent peri‑operative nursing care in both the scrub and circulating roles, at a novice level.
