Job summary

A South Indian restaurant in Brampton is seeking a skilled Chef to prepare and cook traditional South Indian meals, including Chettinadu dishes. The ideal candidate will have 2-3 years of relevant experience, a Cook’s trade certification, and in-depth knowledge of South Indian cuisine. Salary: $ 36.00 CAD / hour

Duties
  • Preparing and cooking complete meals and specialty South Indian recipes including Chettinadu cuisine, millet-based recipes, and vegetarian recipes
  • Instructing cooks in preparation, cooking, garnishing and presentation of South Indian Chettinadu food
  • Training staff in the preparation of Chettinadu dishes to create a skill pool to enable growth of business
  • Supervising activities of sou-chefs and other staff
  • Predicting, monitoring and maintaining adequate raw material stock for preparation of ethnic dishes
  • Arranging for equipment purchases and repairs
  • Preparing and cooking food on a regular basis and/or for special guests and/or functions
  • Planning menus and directing food preparation while ensuring food meets quality standards
  • Estimating food requirements and estimating food costs
  • Monitoring inventory and requisitions food and kitchen supplies to maintain adequate stock levels.
  • Planning, Preparing and training staff on ethnic traditional South Indian sweets and snacks.
Requirements

  • Experience in food preparation and working in a restaurant setting
