About the team + role

The Security Tooling team’s mission is to ensure the reliability, scalability, and availability of the critical third-party security software that Robinhood relies on. The team focuses on strengthening the reliability, efficiency, and impact of security engineering and operations by streamlining routine platform maintenance, reducing the likelihood of human error, and improving overall system security and resilience at scale.

The Detection and Response Platform team builds world-class capabilities and infrastructure to deliver sophisticated detections, automated responses, and comprehensive threat management. Security and privacy protection for Robinhood and customers through addressing threats, minimizing risk with automation, and empowering teams.

As the Engineering Manager supporting both teams, you will own the vision, strategy, and execution for security initiatives—crafting the team’s roadmap, prioritizing high-impact initiatives, and delivering delightful, localized experiences to global users. You’ll own day-to-day operations, support the growth and development of your engineers, and set the multidisciplinary direction of backend engineering for the team. Your leadership will be key in building and empowering a high-performing team, driving technical excellence, and fostering product innovation across markets.

What you’ll do
  • Oversee day-to-day operations, including project prioritization, sprint planning, and on-call retrospectives, to ensure smooth and efficient team execution.
  • Support engineers in their professional growth with clear feedback and grow technical leaders.
  • Ensure high technical standards by instituting processes (design reviews, testing) and culture (engineering excellence).
  • Build partnerships and collaborate across organizations to drive execution efficiently.
  • Partner with cross functional teams to help them ship with the highest possible velocity and quality.

Base pay for the successful applicant will depend on a variety of job-related factors, which may include education, training, experience, location, business needs, or market demands. The expected base pay range for this role is based on the location where the work will be performed.
