Software Engineer – Volante – Jonas Software – Hybrid (North York, ON)
Compensation & Role Details

Expected Salary Range: $70,000 to $80,000 CAD, depending on experience and qualifications.

Role Type: Backfill Role.

We are looking for an analytical, results‑driven Software Engineer who will work with team members to develop new exciting features, as well as to maintain and improve our flagship product, consisting of 3 components: Back Office, POS, and Kiosk.

The successful candidate will thrive in a high‑energy workplace, should have a passion for development, driving code quality, taking ownership of new problems, and be able to think through and solve complex issues.

What You’ll Be Doing
  • Collaborating with engineering, product management, and other teams in an agile environment to design, develop, test and maintain Volanté’s core platform.
  • Delivering solutions effectively by establishing realistic estimates for timelines while ensuring that projects remain on target to meet deadlines without compromising on the quality.
  • Working on Volante’s flagship product, including the development of new features and partner integrations, as well as the maintenance of its current operations.
  • Optimization of the application for maximum speed and scalability.
  • Participating in continuing education and training to remain current on best practices, learn new programming languages, and better assist team members.
What We’re Looking For
Basic Qualifications
  • A completed Bachelor’s degree in computer programming, computer science, or a related field.
  • 1+ years of Back‑End development would be an asset.
  • 2+ years of experience and understanding CS fundamentals including algorithms, data structures and complexity analysis.
  • An aptitude for problem‑solving and strong analytical skills, results driven.
  • Passion to learn and ready to make a real contribution.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Excellent communication skills – both in verbal and written correspondence.
  • Experience with building scalable client‑server enterprise software.
  • Experience with object‑oriented programming language – Java/J2EE.
  • Experience with UNIX/LINUX environment and strong knowledge of SQL – MySQL, MSSQL.
  • Proven track record of taking ownership and successfully delivering results.
  • Experience with Agile (Scrum and/or Kanban) methodologies.
