Amazon Web Services' Cloud Storage, Amazon S3, is one of the largest distributed storage systems in the world, hosting trillions of objects and serving hundreds of millions of requests per second – and we're continuing to grow! We are seeking a skilled Software Development Manager to lead a cross-organizational tiger team driving a high-visibility S3-wide initiative. In this role, you will leverage your technical depth in large-scale distributed systems to solve complex problems with simple solutions for one of AWS's foundational services. This position offers a unique opportunity to work at massive scale while building both great software and great teams.
You'll start your day collaborating with your team of talented software engineers, reviewing progress on critical components of S3's internal communication protocols. Throughout the day, you'll balance technical deep dives with strategic planning sessions, working across organizational boundaries to drive alignment on your high-visibility initiative. You'll mentor team members to foster their growth while ensuring they have the support needed to deliver complex solutions that meet S3's rigorous standards for security, durability, availability, and performance.

The base salary for this position ranges from $171,400/year up to $286,200/year. Salary is based on a number of factors and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
