We are looking for an exceptional Software Development Manager to lead the engineering teams building the ad serving and rendering services for our next generation, cost-per-click ad network.

What You’ll Do
  1. Lead and develop a team of talented software engineers building scalable, high-performance systems that handle billions of requests per day while maintaining millisecond response latencies and strict SLA requirements
  2. Drive technical vision and architecture for services that are flexible, reliable, and maintainable, operating on one of the world’s largest product catalogs
  3. Foster a culture of innovation where your team experiments, iterates pragmatically, and simplifies complex problems to deliver customer value
  4. Partner cross-functionally with product managers, data scientists, and other engineering teams to define roadmaps and deliver business impact
  5. Mentor and grow engineers to strengthen their technical skills, problem‑solving abilities, and understanding of computer science fundamentals
  6. Own operational excellence ensuring your team's systems meet performance, reliability, and quality standards while operating on massive datasets using distributed frameworks
  7. Make data‑driven decisions balancing the needs of customers, advertisers, and publishers while driving quantifiable revenue impact
  8. Use Gen AI tools to speed delivery and natively improve the ad serving pipeline via LLMs
The ideal candidate

Has a strong technical background in distributed systems, the vision to incorporate Gen AI tools in the day‑to‑day activities of the team and natively to improve customer or shopper experience, and a proven track record of building and leading high‑performing engineering teams. You combine technical depth with excellent people management skills and a customer‑focused mindset.

  • 3+ years of engineering team management experience
  • 7+ years of working directly within engineering teams experience
  • 3+ years of designing or architecting (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
  • 8+ years of leading the definition and development of multi‑tier web services experience
  • Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, certification, and livesite operations
  • Experience partnering with product or program management teams
  • Gen AI Proficiency – Ability to motivate and direct the team to use Gen AI tools efficiently to speed delivery along with natively improving the ad serving pipeline for shoppers and advertisers alike
  • Experience in communicating with users, other technical teams, and senior leadership to collect requirements, describe software product features, technical designs, and product strategy
  • Experience in recruiting, hiring, mentoring/coaching and managing teams of Software Engineers to improve their skills, and make them more effective, product software engineers

The base salary range for this position is listed below. As a total compensation company, Amazon's package may include other elements such as sign‑on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
