Job description

Join Our Mission: Help the Helpers with Jane

Let’s kick things off with a quick intro. Jane is a team that’s all about fostering growth, spreading delight, and serving our healthcare community. We’re looking for people who are ready to jump in and join us as we simplify the lives of healthcare practitioners and patients every day.

At Jane, success means collaborating with your team, delivering an aligned result with efficiency and quality, communicating clearly and openly, and embracing continuous improvement. And guess what? Jane is a remote-first company, so every role, including this one, gives you the freedom to work from anywhere in Canada.

Your Role in Our Journey

Jane is looking for a Full Stack, Back End focused Intermediate Software Developer to join our Revenue Operations team and play an integral role in building and maintaining features and platforms for different departments at Jane. We primarily focus on our homegrown Jane Account Management (JAM) application and its surrounding ecosystem. JAM is a separate platform from the main Jane monolith that other teams work on.

Our team develops internal-facing features used by departments such as Support, Marketing, Finance, Business Intelligence, and Security. We’re less focused on platform and DevOps work, and more on building high-impact tools and systems that streamline internal workflows and support business operations.

Like any team at Jane, we have a customer-oriented mindset and care deeply about how our work impacts both our end users and internal stakeholders. This role is ideal for someone who’s excited to build scalable, well-designed backend systems, while also being comfortable dipping into the front end when needed.

The Impact You Could Have
  • The main application you would be working on is JAM, Jane Account Management. One of our team’s core responsibilities is Subscription Billing, meaning we own the billing and payments pipeline, and have a direct impact on how Jane collects revenue from customers.
  • Opportunity to work and collaborate on large cross team projects that have aligned with Jane’s goals.
  • Opportunity to implement functionality for projects of varying complexity that directly contribute towards achieving company strategic goals.
  • Implement service oriented architecture, develop new or decompose existing complex features as stand alone self contained services.
  • Help define or influence the team’s product and technical roadmaps ensuring we are building features that provide delight to our customers.
The Experience We Feel We Need
  • Our development team at Jane primarily works with Ruby on Rails, but we welcome applicants with experience in Java, C#, Python, and Go. You will have the resources to ramp up on our tech stack if you haven't worked with it previously, so please don't hesitate to apply!
  • Experience working within an agile product team, collaborating with Dev Manager, Product Manager and Design.
  • Experience building scalable and performant features or systems.
  • Passionate about writing performant code and optimizing database queries.
  • Someone with a growth mindset, adaptable to learning new technologies, promoting a culture knowledge sharing, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Can help identify technical debt or challenges, and collaborate on brainstorming scalable, maintainable solutions.
  • Advocate for best practices, continuously looking for ways to improve code quality, test coverage, and development workflows.
Compensation & Benefits

At Jane, we’re committed to paying fairly, clearly, and above all, paying for growth. This role has an annual salary range of $95,100 to $142,600. While that is a large range, it is intentional. It reflects the full growth journey someone might take in the role, from developing skills early on to becoming highly proficient and ultimately achieving excellence.

Most new hires join at the accomplished stage, which for this role represents an annual salary of $112,900. A starting salary below this typically indicates a candidate with strong potential who is still developing key skills. Salaries above this usually apply to existing team members who have made a significant impact and bring deep Jane-specific knowledge.

We believe in paying for growth. You’ll have regular career development conversations with your manager and your compensation will grow as you gain experience and contribute meaningfully to our mission.

Paying clearly is one of our compensation fundamentals. Watch this short video to learn how our salary bands are set. You’re also encouraged to ask questions about compensation at any point during the interview process.

We also offer a comprehensive benefits package. You can learn more about it here.

At Jane, we’re committed to fostering an environment that allows you to come to work as your truest self. We believe it’s important to actively recognize, embrace, and celebrate our differences in order to make Jane an inclusive, equitable, and diverse workplace.

We want to build a team of people who make conversations rich with perspective and experience. We are committed to listening to every voice in order to learn and grow because doing this will allow us to meet the needs of the diverse community of helpers that Jane serves.

We do not tolerate discrimination, prejudice, or oppressive isms of any kind. Employment is decided on the basis of qualifications, merit, experience, and the needs of the Jane community. We encourage anyone who requires accommodation or adjustments throughout the interview process to let us know, and we will do our best to support you.
