Job summary

A leading safety product manufacturer in Calgary is seeking a Software Developer to drive innovation and lead scrum teams. Responsibilities include developing scalable microservices, translating requirements into agile stories, and participating in on-call support. Candidates should have strong experience in distributed systems and proficiency in Java or related technologies. This position offers a dynamic environment focused on safety and innovation.

Qualifications

  • Strong development experience in a distributed microservice environment.
  • Deep knowledge of Java (Spring Boot), Python, PHP or Angular.
  • Experience with monitoring tools (DataDog, Splunk, etc.).
  • Experience running large deployments at scale (AWS preferred).
  • Experience with CI/CD systems (Github, Gitlab, etc.).

Responsibilities

  • Developing scalable, high‑quality microservices.
  • Providing technical leadership to the scrum team(s).
  • Leading new product technical evaluations.
  • Translating product requirements into detailed agile stories.
  • Providing rotational on‑call support and root cause analysis.

Our team is looking for a Software Developer. In this cross‑functional role, you will provide technical leadership to scrum teams, lead new product evaluations, and translate product requirements into actionable agile stories. You will also participate in a rotational on‑call support roster, performing root cause analysis for production issues.

Responsibilities
  • Developing scalable, high‑quality microservices in a cross‑functional environment
  • Providing technical leadership to the scrum team(s)
  • Leading new product technical evaluations
  • Translating product requirements into detailed agile stories for the team to work on
  • Providing rotational on‑call support and root cause analysis of software and system defects

  • Experience with monitoring tools (DataDog, Splunk, etc.)
  • Experience with running large deployments at scale (AWS, AWS Fargate preferred)
  • Experience with CI/CD systems (Github, Gitlab, other)
  • Experience developing high performing database queries
  • Experience with data transformation technologies is a plus
  • Experience with performance testing and code optimization
  • Experience with message bus technologies (Kafka, etc.)
  • Experience with Single Sign On applications and OAuth frameworks is a plus
  • Solid understanding in core web and browser concepts is a plus
  • Experience migrating legacy applications to microservices is a plus
  • Experience with Infrastructure as a Service (Terraform, Cloud Formation) is a plus
