About Our Opportunity

As the Sign Technician, you will ensure the efficient production and distribution of signs generated by the Central Sign Shop. You may do any one, or a combination of, the following duties: Sign Construction and Assembly, Hand Lettering, Silk Screening, as well as Shipping and Receiving.

Signs are designed using computer software and various materials such as plywood, extruded aluminum panels, utility grade aluminum, and reflective materials. Various tools are used during production and assembly, including but not limited to; table saws, radial arm saws, and metal shears. Completed signs are prepared for shipping and loaded into trucks using a fork lift, or by hand. As the Sign Technician, you will also ensure the overall cleanliness of the Sign Shop by performing light janitorial duties.

Qualifications and Experience

Grade 12; or a combination of education, training, and experience willbe considered.You musthave a strong mathematical aptitude, good written and verbal communcation skills including spelling and grammar skills,and ability to use computers for entering and searching inventory data.

Required training includestable saw, radial cut off saw, silk screening and overhead crane. The Sign Technician must also be able to take accurate linear measurements, and to complete mathematical calculations required in the cutting of sign materials. A Mechanical aptitude, knowledge of Flex-Sign, as well as computer skills are considered assets.Fork lift and Loader training are also considered assets.

You are a self-motivated individual who works both independently with minimal supervision, and participates fully as an effective team player. You are accurate in your work, and have well-developed time management and organizational skills to meet established priorities.You consistently maintain a professional and courteous disposition and hold a high standard for client and customer service.

We will assess the above qualifications and competencies using one or more of the following tools: written examination, standardized tests, oral presentations, interview(s), and reference checks.

Equivalency

An equivalent combination of training, education and experience will be considered. Equivalencies may include, but are not limited to:

  • At least 3 years of related experience.

Working Conditions

This position is labour intensive requiring physical strength and dexterity due to the lifting, carrying and continuous moving required.Occasionally there is exposure to smoke and fumes from mechanical equipment.

This opportunity is for one (1) position and will be based out of Bible Hill (Zone 14).

This opportunity is for a 52-week, Year-Round position – the duties of which are full time and continuous in nature.
