Position Summary
The Shop & Yard Support will help keep our facilities clean, organized, and running efficiently. This position is responsible for general cleaning, handling stock, operating a forklift, and assisting with deliveries and pickups.
Key Responsibilities
- Keep the shop and yard clean, safe, and organized (sweeping, garbage, general upkeep);
- Safely operate a forklift to load, unload, and move materials;
- Receive, put away, and pick stock;
- Assist with organizing inventory, parts, and supplies;
- Drive company vehicles to deliver and pick up parts or equipment;
- Any additional duties and responsibilities as may be assigned, from time to time to support shop and yard activities.

Education and Experience
- High school diploma generally required.
- Previous experience in a shop, yard, or warehouse environment considered an asset.
- Valid Ontario ‘G’ driver’s license with clean driving record is required.
- Forklift certification (or willingness to obtain).
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and work on your feet throughout the day.
Health and Safety
- Work in compliance with the provisions of the OHSA, Regulations, CD’s Health and Safety Management System Manual, and internal policies and procedures
- Attend all required health and safety training programs (e.g. WHMIS, orientation, tailgate talks), and apply knowledge to daily operating procedures
- Know, understand and implement safe work practices, procedures, and established rules project activities and for handling materials, equipment and processes
- Act to correct and report any contravention of the OHSA, regulations, or company H&S policies and procedures or any observed hazard to their Supervisor and EHS department
- Refrain from operating any equipment, machine, device or thing, or otherwise working in a manner that may endanger anyone
- Use all safety devices provided, ensuring optimum condition of devices and report any defects immediately to a supervisor and EHS department
- Report any missing or defective equipment or protective device which could endanger any person to their Supervisor and EHS department
- Report all injuries, incidents, hazards and unusual conditions immediately to their Supervisor and EHS department
- Complete supporting documentation appropriate for circumstances listed above
Working Conditions
- Typical hours: Monday to Thursday, 7:00 am to 5:00 pm, Friday, 7:00 am to 3:00 pm. Additional hours may be required
- Significant physical effort.
