Shop Supervisor, Highway Maintenance

Ledcor is seeking a skilled and safety-focused Highway Maintenance Supervisor to lead our highway infrastructure, maintenance, and construction activities in Blind River, Iron Bridge, and Thessalon, Ontario.

In this role, you’ll directly oversee crews to ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and maintenance standards.

Essential Responsibilities
  • Lead & Direct Teams – Provide overall direction to ensure project goals, safety, and contract schedules are met
  • Communication & Collaboration – Effectively communicate with front-line leaders, ensuring contract requirements are successfully executed
  • Operational Oversight – Monitor performance metrics (cost, schedule, safety, quality, environment) and guide teams to achieve them
  • Strategic Planning – Assist in schedule development, resource allocation, and execution plans to ensure project success
  • Coaching & Mentorship – Support front-line leaders with training and development to enhance team performance
  • Health & Safety Leadership – Promote a strong safety culture, ensuring compliance with Ledcor’s HS&E standards and OH&S regulations
  • Budget & Financial Oversight – Review financial reports and implement strategies to achieve targets
  • Risk & Compliance Management – Ensure contract and regulatory compliance, including collective agreement administration
  • Fleet & Asset Management – Assist in planning and implementing improvement strategies for effective asset utilization
Qualifications
  • 3+ years of experience in highway road maintenance, infrastructure, or construction in a supervisory role
  • Technical training or trade certification in a related field is an asset
  • Experience managing highway projects is an advantage
  • Strong knowledge of health, safety, environment, and quality (HSEQ) standards
  • Proven planning, scheduling, and leadership skills
  • Experience with continuous improvement processes (ISO or other management systems) is preferred
Work Conditions
  • Applicants who reside locally will be given preference due to the nature of the work (can be office based from Thessalon, Iron Bridge or Blind River locations)
  • You will be required to work Monday to Friday with the expectation to monitor your phone for after-hours emergencies
  • Work will be a combination of office and outdoors in various weather conditions
