Overview
The salary range for this position is $30.00- $40.00 CAD depending on experience.
Responsibilities
- Diagnose and repair electrical, hydraulic, and hydrostatic systems on municipal tractors, sweepers, and attachments.
- Perform preventive maintenance, warranty repairs, and troubleshooting to minimize equipment downtime.
- Conduct on-site service calls to customer locations for repairs and technical support.
- Troubleshoot complex mechanical and electronic issues, using diagnostic software and manuals.
- Provide technical support and training to customers on proper equipment use and maintenance.
- Conduct PDI on new tractors, sweepers, and attachments to ensure they meet factory specifications.
- Assemble, configure, and test equipment before delivery to customers or dealers.
- Work closely with sales and logistics teams to prepare units based on customer specifications.
- Inspect and recondition used implement carriers and attachments for resale or rental.
- Replace worn components, repaint, and perform cosmetic and mechanical upgrades.
- Ensure all refurbished equipment meets operational and safety standards.
- Serve as a technical expert for customers, assisting with troubleshooting equipment and best practices.
- Work closely with the parts and service teams to ensure customers receive timely repairs and support.
- Provide guidance on preventative maintenance and operational efficiency.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment in the shop and service areas.
- Ensure proper storage and handling of tools, equipment, and replacement parts.
- Perform basic facility upkeep and minor repairs as needed.
- Follow all workplace safety protocols, regulations, and manufacturer guidelines.
- Adhere to proper handling and disposal of hazardous materials.
- Participate in ongoing training and certification programs to stay updated on industry standards.
Qualifications
- Licensed Mechanic with strong electrical, hydraulic, and diagnostic skills.
- Trade Licenses 310S, 310T, or 421A are preferred.
- Experience working with municipal tractors, sweepers, and attachments (snow plows, blowers, sanders, sprayers, mowers, etc.).
- Proficiency in diagnostic software and service manuals.
- Valid G-level driver’s license with a clean abstract.
- Ability to travel for field service calls as required.
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to work independently.
- Ability to read and comprehend service manuals and technical diagrams.
- Must have own tools.
- Rotating weekend and on-call schedule Oct 1 to April 30.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand and reach with arms and hands.
- Standing for 8 hours and frequent walking required.
- The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
Physical Demands
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee frequently works near moving mechanical parts and is frequently exposed to airborne particles.
- The noise level in the work environment is usually high, proper protective equipment is required.
