Job Summary

The Senior UX Designer will serve as a strong advocate for the customer, leveraging user-centred design methodologies to transform complex problems into elegant, scalable experiences. This role supports the SIJ team with day‑to‑day design tasks, collaborating closely with business partners and stakeholders to produce high‑quality deliverables across web and mobile experiences. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast‑paced environment, embraces feedback, and is passionate about creating intuitive solutions that align with customer needs and business goals.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop sketches, wireframes, specifications, prototypes, scenarios, and storyboards.
  • Use Figma daily to design, iterate, and contribute to experience strategy.
  • Participate in planning and facilitating Design Thinking sessions with stakeholders.
  • Collaborate closely with business and experience design strategy teams to ensure design intent is achieved.
  • Advocate for the customer throughout the full project lifecycle.
  • Connect regularly with managers for design reviews and feedback loops.
  • Support the development team to ensure alignment with final UX intent.
  • Stay current with design methodologies, trends, tools, and best practices.
  • Participate in observational studies, usability testing, and other user research activities.
  • Communicate conceptual ideas, detailed designs, and rationale clearly to diverse audiences.
Required Experience
  • A degree in design or a related discipline (industrial design, user‑centred design, design strategy, design management, human factors, HCI, etc.).
  • 5–7+ years as a UX Designer, including experience with public‑facing digital products (preferably banking).
  • Strong experience with sketches, wireframes, prototypes, and design specifications.
  • Ability to simplify complicated flows and translate conceptual ideas into compelling customer experiences.
  • Strong prototyping skills: sketch, paper, wireframe, video, or interactive formats.
  • Experience collaborating with cross‑functional teams and stakeholders (approx. 25% interaction).
Nice‑to‑Have Experience
  • Animation or page transition design skills.
  • Financial industry experience.
  • Knowledge of non‑registered and registered savings products (RESPs, RRSPs, TFSAs, FHSAs).
  • Experience in investing and/or insurance environments.
