A leading producer in agriculture is seeking a Senior Tax Accountant in Canada. This critical role requires expertise in Canadian tax compliance and involves responsibilities like tax return preparation and audit support. The successful candidate will possess a Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Tax, or Law, along with a minimum of four years of relevant experience. The Senior Tax Accountant – Canada plays a critical role in supporting the Canadian tax compliance function and ensuring accurate, timely execution of all tax obligations. This position will work closely with the Tax Compliance Manager to assist in end-to-end compliance processes and contribute to strategic initiatives within a forward-thinking tax department.
Key Responsibilities:
Tax Return Preparation: Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual Canadian Income and Resource tax returns, ensuring accuracy and compliance with Federal and Provincial regulations.
Indirect Tax Compliance: Support GST/PST, Non-Resident Withholding, Property Tax, and Carbon Tax compliance activities, including reconciliations and variance resolution.
Audit Support: Coordinate and provide information for audit and information requests from Canadian tax authorities.
Ensure the accurate and timely preparation and filing of all The Mosaic Company’s annual Canadian Federal and Provincial tax returns, including preparing monthly estimated tax payments consistent with management philosophy and tax law requirements.
Ensure the accurate and timely preparation and filing of all The Mosaic Company’s monthly, quarterly, and annual Resource tax returns (base capital and profit tax), including preparing monthly and quarterly estimated tax payments consistent with management philosophy and tax law requirements. Preparation of monthly CRT journal entries and assisting FP&A with forecasting and budgeting of CRT expense.
Prepare related tax provisions for financial statement purposes in partnership with the Tax Accounting and Potash FP&A teams to ensure the Canada Resource and Income Taxes are accurately reported in the quarterly and year-end financial statements, consistent with management philosophy and regulatory requirements.
Participate in the development of a meaningful audit trail for positions taken on tax filings. Provide support for Canadian Resource, Income, and Indirect audits, including participation and review of responses to IDRS, communicating with auditors, and reviewing of final assessments as needed.
Ensure the accurate and timely preparation and filing of some of The Mosaic Company’s Canadian Indirect tax returns (Property Tax, Carbon Tax, and miscellaneous returns) consistent with management philosophy and tax law requirements.
Bachelor's degree required with major in Accounting, Finance, Tax or Law
4+ years of experience at a major public accounting firm and/or tax department of a multinational corporation
Demonstrated understanding of Canadian Taxes including Indirect Taxes
Must have experience with project and resource management, contingency analyses, and detailed electronic research
Affinity for technical tax

Canada Tax Prep experience is desirable
SAP S/4 HANA experience is preferred
