Amazon is seeking an experienced and innovative Senior Site Workplace Health and Safety (WHS) Manager to join our team. You will partner with the site-level operations team for your designated site to execute company WHS policies and ensure compliance with local and regional regulations. By leveraging lean principles and Kaizen events, you will lead continuous improvement initiatives to reduce conditional and ergonomic risk in Amazon's processes to ensure a safe and healthful working environment for our associates.

You must demonstrate the ability to build trust with cross-functional operations teams and influence change through comprehensive risk assessments and safety data analysis. You will communicate clearly, both verbally and in writing. You will instruct and train operations leadership and site WHS professionals in company EHS policies while assisting regional teams in incorporating safety standards at sites. Your experience in safety programs and knowledge of safety, environmental, and ergonomic practices in an operations environment will be crucial.

You will be responsible for developing a team of safety managers and safety professionals at your designated site. Your success will depend on creating and executing leadership development plans for the larger team. You must communicate organizational direction effectively through your team. As a senior leader in the WHS organization, you will assess safety talent to determine bench strength for current and future business needs.

Responsibilities
  • Act as SME of local/regional regulations and company WHS policy.
  • Provide guidance and oversight to ensure compliance with all applicable Amazon Safety Policies.
  • Measure site performance against published safety policy requirements; identify and implement plans to fix deficiencies.
  • Ensure safety record keeping and data integrity; provide Operations with accurate reporting and metrics to support safety initiatives.
  • Deliver on-time and quality projects to Operations.
  • Deep dive safety metrics and review incident trends weekly and monthly to justify resource allocation to high-risk areas.
  • Develop action plans for Sr. Leadership based on trend analysis at the site.
  • Audit record keeping practices and Global Safety Database entries for compliance with global standards and local regulations.
  • Audit workplace organization and Associate behaviors to ensure training, auditing, and scoring methods are accurate and consistent.
  • Manage and mentor Safety Managers and Safety Associates at the assigned site.
  • Engage Injury Prevention Specialists (IPS) and Site Leadership to drive long-term strategic actions to reduce incidents.
  • Perform targeted Kaizen events in partnership with Operations based on identified risks (force, repetition, awkward postures).
  • Ensure site leadership and associates are trained and aware of responsibilities under each policy.
  • Audit the quality, delivery (including trainer qualifications), and effectiveness of safety training.
  • Review effectiveness of deployed safety tools and revise for continual improvement.
  • Partner with corporate and regional field safety personnel to align with global best practices.
Additional Job Elements
  • Lift up to 49 pounds and frequently push, pull, squat, bend, and reach.
  • Stand/walk for up to 12 hours during shifts.
  • Work in environments with varying noise levels and temperatures.
  • Continuously climb and descend stairs (where applicable).
  • Maintain effective care delivery in emergencies and assist with emergency response at the site.

Those who do not have an adult First Aid, CPR, AED certification from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross must obtain certification within 3 weeks of start date.

Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree.
  • 7+ years of increasing responsibilities in safety and/or environmental programs in manufacturing, production, or service operations, or relevant experience applicable to the role.
  • 7+ years of increasing responsibilities in people and performance management.
  • CPR/First Aid Certification.
  • Experience implementing lean principles and process improvement in an operational environment.
  • Willingness to work a variety of shifts, including nights and weekends, as required to support direct reports and site needs.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree preferred.
  • Certified Safety Professional preferred.
  • Experience in a fast-paced, dynamic organization.
  • Interest in long-term career development through assignments in multiple FCs across the nation.
  • Prior experience in a management development training program.
  • Track record of effectively managing a safety operation comprising both salaried and hourly staff.
  • Demonstrated experience in developing others into higher levels of responsibility in an organization.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including comfort interfacing with Directors and VPs.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

The base salary range for this position is listed below. As a total compensation company, Amazon\'s package may include other elements such as sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
