Senior Project Manager, PMO

Esri Canada has an exceptional opportunity for a Senior Project Manager to join our PMO. This role reports to the Director, PMO and contributes to business operations by providing high‑level management and delivery of internal projects within the PMO services portfolio.

This role involves close collaboration with business stakeholders to ensure successful project execution. The position supports the PMO in maintaining process standards and governance across Professional Services and Internal IS/Corporate projects. This role will be remote based in Canada.

A Day in the Life of a Senior Project Manager at Esri Canada
Responsibilities
  • Project Planning & Execution
    • Lead and manage internal IS and corporate projects from initiation through implementation.
    • Facilitate visioning sessions to define scope, priorities, timelines, and align on deliverables.
    • Perform business analysis during project initiation to identify preliminary requirements, assess feasibility, and define measurable success criteria.
    • Coordinate cross‑functional teams including business analysts, developers, sponsors, and executives to ensure alignment and delivery success.
    • Manage communications across departments and senior leadership to ensure transparency and support decision‑making.
    • Manage stakeholder relationships and expectations throughout the project lifecycle.
    • Monitor and control project budgets, resources, and schedules.
    • Maintain project data in Esri Canada’s professional services automation system.
    • Manage changes to scope, schedule, and costs using formal verification techniques.
    • Identify and mitigate risks proactively, presenting response plans to stakeholders.
    • Prepare and lead quality management planning and assurance activities.
    • Obtain stakeholder sign‑off on key deliverables.
    • Produce status updates and project control reports.
    • Apply change management strategies to overcome resistance, foster engagement, and ensure adoption.
    • Contribute to organizational readiness by supporting development and delivery of training programs, including creation and delivery of materials.
    • Oversee project close‑out activities and conduct lessons learned reviews.
  • Governance, Standards & Reporting
    • Promote and enforce IT standards, PMI guidelines, and best practices for project management.
    • Ensure adherence to standard processes and governance in collaboration with Professional Services.
    • Conduct external Professional Services project monitoring and audit reviews.
    • Compile and distribute governance compliance, audit results, and project health results.
    • Support monitoring activities of various metrics for Professional Services (e.g., margin variance, risk trends, contingency analysis) to support continuous improvement.
    • Execute bid and project review activities (Risk Review, Initiation, Closure, Lessons Learned) in conjunction with the PMO Director.
  • General Responsibilities
    • Participate collaboratively in the company Employee Development Program.
    • Communicate effectively with internal and external personnel at all levels representing the company in a professional manner at all times.
    • Actively participate in company, staff or individual one‑on‑one meetings on an ongoing basis for the purposes of effective teamwork, enhanced communication and progressive co‑operation strategies within the company as well as other departments across the company.
    • Continuously contribute to the profitability of the company and ongoing business operations by initiating, recommending and implementing continuous improvement strategies and initiatives.
    • Conduct any general duties, specific job projects and responsibilities as assigned or required by the Director or Esri Canada management in a timely and professional manner.
What you bring to the team
  • University degree in computer science, business administration or equivalent relevant work experience.
  • 10+ years experience with IT applications.
  • 5+ years as a project manager on IT projects, large‑scale corporate programs, or business development efforts—ideally within a professional services environment.
  • 2+ years holding a valid Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.
  • Solid understanding of software development methodologies.
  • Proven expertise with project management tools, techniques, and frameworks.
  • Demonstrated ability to produce high‑quality project documentation and deliverables.

Compensation & Benefits

At Esri Canada, we are committed to fair and competitive compensation. This role offers a base salary range of $100,200 to $119,400 annually determined based on experience, skills, and internal equity.
