Your Opportunity:
The Senior Program Lead (SPL) is accountable to lead the Cardiovascular Care Alberta Provincial Program within Acute Care Alberta (ACA) to ensure high-quality, comprehensive cardiovascular care for Albertans as part of provincial strategic oversight. The SPL will oversee the program to advance health system sustainability, establish desired outcomes, and promote the adoption of data-driven, evidence-based, best-practice care for all Albertans. This role supports high-quality, evidence-based care through clinical standards, quality improvement and system innovation, including monitoring across Health Service Delivery Organizations (HSDOs) to meet targets, and to support and sustain system operations, integration, and growth. Responsibilities
- Reporting to the Executive Lead, Provincial Program Oversight, the SPL is responsible for setting strategy, identifying priorities and providing direction to address complex cardiovascular conditions or specialty services.
- Collaborating with Provincial Health Agencies (PHAs) to ensure implementation of approved directives with Health Service Delivery Organizations (HSDOs).
- Developing provincial roadmaps to achieve Ministerial and ACA priorities and strategic directions, in collaboration with PHAs and HSDOs.
- Leading the development of quality improvement in complex conditions or service specialties through standardized care paths, time-to-care guidelines, protocols and tiers of service.
- Providing recommendations on resource allocation, investments and major service configuration elements.
- Setting strategic direction and guiding research, innovation and clinical collaboration on cardiovascular care in alignment with strategic directions.
- Overseeing reporting on performance, analytics and benchmarking.
- Advising the Ministry, Minister and ACA Executive Team to advance a refocused health system and enhance cardiovascular care performance and sustainability.
- Developing and maintaining effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including patient and family advisors, executive leadership, government departments, public agencies, service providers, committees and community partners.
Qualifications
- Required Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in a healthcare profession is required with a preferred graduate degree in health care management, business administration or related health care field. Demonstrated ongoing professional and personal development.
- Additional Required Qualifications: A minimum of 7 years of progressive senior leadership experience in a healthcare environment, including senior management experience in clinical services or healthcare operations. Extensive experience in strategy, policy development, leadership, and project/program management. Strong strategic thinking, long-term planning, effective communication, organizational skills, client-focused orientation and commitment to quality services. Leadership skills with decision-making, coaching, teaching, and ability to inspire others. Proven ability to manage change and create innovative solutions for complex issues. Ability to communicate with diverse audiences and build partnerships with stakeholders. Proven ability to influence, negotiate and resolve complex situations. Ethical conduct in professional practices.
- Preferred Qualifications: Experience in Cardiovascular Care; experience working with the Government of Alberta.
