Job Description
    Req#: 6814930002

We're entrepreneurial, value oriented decision makers who drive the development of the world-class software products that power Wayfair's transformation of retail for home. We create the web and app experiences that make Wayfair a delightful place to shop, establish new and innovative services for customers, and build the backbone of Wayfair's pricing, merchandising, supply chain, and enterprise operations. Whether on desktop, mobile web, or app, or any of our proprietary internal platforms, we leverage data, user-centric design, machine learning, and Agile to exceed customer expectations and achieve operational excellence, fueling company growth. Our work requires us to move fast and collaborate with some of the best engineers, creatives, data scientists, operators, and analysts to discover, build, and scale world-class software products

We are platform builders who own the infrastructure that powers Wayfair's vast product catalog. We own the core merchandising data infrastructure itself, the tools that optimize and transform data within it, and a growing array of cutting-edge services that support critical operations throughout the company (such as personalized site experiences, advanced logistics, highly configurable and made-to-order products, etc.) Our mission is to create stable, scalable, and flexible infrastructure that allows Wayfair to optimally merchandise every product our customers see. If you are interested in solving high-impact operational and technical challenges at the core of a highly-scaled e-commerce business, this is the place to be.

    What You'll Do

    • As a Senior Product Manager for the Elevated Descriptions & Discovery (EDD) team at Wayfair, you'll be pivotal in optimizing our customer experience by harnessing the power of raw supplier data. This data is the driving force behind enhancing our e-commerce platform's search, recommendation, and filter experiences.
    • You'll be responsible for developing a clear vision for our catalog data structure, incorporating knowledge of big data tools such as Kafka and GraphQL federation. You'll shape the strategy for managing and evolving our data resources, leading problem scoping, discovery, requirements synthesis, and prioritization.
    • Working collaboratively within a complex stakeholder landscape, including business stakeholders, data scientists, operations teams, and developers, you'll guide the Agile software development lifecycle. Additionally, you'll mentor a team of one to two junior product managers, fostering their professional growth and alignment with our goals.
    • Your role will require an end-to-end product development mindset, with a sharp focus on customer experience and a results-driven approach.

    What You'll Need

    • 5-8 years of professional experience, with at least 3 years in product management and iterative software delivery.
    • Deep understanding of data structure, data flow, and big data tools like Kafka and GraphQL federation.
    • Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional initiatives, manage conflict, and create buy-in for recommendations.
    • Proven experience navigating complex business problems, establishing both short-term and long-term strategic visions.
    • Strong technical orientation, comfortable diving into details and learning new technologies.
    • Experience leading a software development team, showcasing creative thinking, independent problem-solving, effective troubleshooting, and team motivation.
    • Proficiency in SQL or other relational database query languages.
    • Prior experience in e-commerce and knowledge of e-commerce merchandising (nice-to-have).
    • Experience working with relational databases, complex workflows, and internal operational tools (nice-to-have).
