Leads and oversees the GTEP – GPE – Virtual Workspace Engineering (VWE) team ensuring strategic alignment with various LOBs, take ownership for providing excellent services and stabilities of the environments for our users, plans and take initiative for innovation and continuous improvement in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures.

Responsibilities
- Leads and oversees the GTEP – GPE – Virtual Workspace Engineering (VWE) team, ensuring strategic alignment and operational excellence.
- Directs the development and maintenance of the Citrix platform, Virtual Desktop and Application solutions, considering network architecture, latency, geographic distribution, redundancy, capacity, and security compliance.
- Integrates Cloud Native technologies such as Omnissa’s Horizon in Azure, Windows 365 Cloud PC, Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD), Entra ID, Microsoft Intune, Dynatrace, etc. into the virtual workspace strategy.
- Engages with global stakeholders to align prioritized initiatives, infrastructure patterns, frameworks, and standards, even in areas lacking established norms.
- Acts as a consultant from ideation through design, collaborating with business units and teams.
- Manages globally distributed teams, addressing technical, financial, and human resource challenges across multiple countries.
- Overseas operations using a follow-the-sun model to ensure 24/7 incident response and service continuity.
- Provides innovative and strategic solutions to operational challenges, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
- Leads efforts to document standard operating procedures and architectural designs, ensuring clarity on system interactions and performance.
- Champions innovation, automation, and modernization through Proof of Concepts (POCs) and Proof of Values (POVs).
- Collaborates with cross-functional teams to research, test, and implement emerging IT infrastructure technologies.
- Embeds risk awareness into daily decision-making, aligning with the Bank’s risk appetite and culture.
- Promotes a customer-focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage enterprise-wide knowledge.
- Ensures compliance with Scotiabank’s Values, Code of Conduct, and Global Sales Principles, while maintaining robust operational and risk controls.
- Builds a high-performance, inclusive team environment through coaching, clear communication, and succession planning.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related field, or equivalent proven experience in relevant technology leadership roles.
- Additional exposure to management or business administration education is considered an asset.
- Exceptional communication skills in English, both written and verbal.
- Spanish language high proficiency an asset and highly encouraged
- Deep expertise in systems design, architecture, and enterprise-scale infrastructure.
- Familiarity with scripting or programming languages is beneficial for automation and solution prototyping.
- Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in IT and business/industry environments.
- At least 5 years of experience in people management, with a track record of building and leading high-performing teams.
