Overview

What is the opportunity

To establish, implement, and continuously enhance Artificial Intelligence (AI) governance frameworks across RBC Global Asset Management (GAM), balancing innovation enablement with robust risk management and regulatory compliance.

Responsibilities
  • Governance & Leadership
    • Lead monthly AI Governance Committee meetings and bi-weekly AI Working Group sessions
    • Prepare quarterly reporting to GAM Leadership Committee on AI governance effectiveness
    • Actively maintain inventory of AI initiatives and identify high-risk activities requiring enhanced controls
  • Business Enablement
    • Support business sponsors through AI approval processes with clear, actionable guidance
    • Facilitate knowledge transfer and best practice sharing across RBC
    • Identify high-value AI opportunities while ensuring proper governance implementation
    • Establish and maintain strong relationships across first and second line functions to accelerate adoption
  • Risk & Compliance Management
    • Ensure RBC and GAM mandated governance and controls are implemented
    • Manage escalations and incident reviews involving AI components
    • Translate evolving regulatory requirements into practical operational guidance
    • Monitor emerging AI trends and assess applicability to GAM operations
  • Coordination & Collaboration
    • Coordinate with Enterprise AI Working Forum (AIWF) for complex governance cases
    • Work cross-functionally to balance gatekeeping with supportive enablement

  • Strategic Thinking – Ability to balance innovation acceleration with risk management and develop forward-looking governance strategies
  • Stakeholder Management – Proven skill in influencing and collaborating across business units, risk functions, and executive leadership
  • Regulatory & Compliance Knowledge – Deep understanding of financial services regulations and ability to translate requirements into practical operational guidance
  • AI/ML Fundamentals – Practical understanding of AI/ML technologies, use cases, and associated risks to inform governance decisions
  • Communication & Simplification – Exceptional ability to distill complex governance frameworks and technical concepts into clear, actionable guidance for diverse audiences
Nice to Have
  • Prior experience establishing governance frameworks in fast-growing technology or innovation teams
  • Exposure to RegTech or AI governance solutions in financial institutions or in technology sector
