Job description

Sedgman is seeking a Senior Maintenance & Reliability Engineer to join their Field Services team, in the Vancouver, BC office.

This individual will be responsible for leading and delivering projects where the focus will be on providing solutions to clients, to maximize equipment uptime and minimize costs and then implementing solutions to enhance asset performance in a mining plant.

This position will report to the Director Field Services, and he/she will have had prior experience and responsibilities for the implementation of effective maintenance management and reliability practices.

What does this role involve? Main Responsibilities:
  • Lead small teams and projects for the Field Services team
  • Develop and optimise maintenance strategies
  • Carry out reliability and maintenance data analysis and reporting
  • Facilitate failure investigations following Root Cause Analysis (RCA) methods
  • Oversee the management and administration of the Maintenance Management System
  • Lead advanced Condition Monitoring (CM) activities and teams
  • Perform audits on plant equipment and lubrication systems.
  • Manage improvement projects from initiation to completion.
  • Participate in Research and Development (R&D) projects
  • Work collaboratively with the Maintenance & Reliability team in Australia.
  • Mentor other engineers and graduates.
  • Represent Sedgman at industry conferences and events, including presenting technical papers and sharing best practices.
  • Travel as required to support project delivery and meet client expectations.
What are we looking for in our future team member? Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering
  • 10 + years of relevant experience, in a similar role
  • Broad maintenance and reliability experience is required
  • Strong background in mining industry operations (fixed plant, mobile, or field equipment)
  • Ability to work in an autonomous capacity as well as in a team environment
  • Leadership, negotiating, and above average communication skills are highly desired
  • Previous experience in minerals processing is highly desirable.
  • Excellent report and technical writing skills
  • Experience with maintenance management systems (i.e. SAP PM, PRONTO and JD Edwards)
  • Proven Knowledge of Reliability Centred Maintenance (RCM), Failure Mode Effects Criticality Analysis (FMECA), Root Cause Analysis (RCA - e.g. Apollo System), and Asset Management Practices.
  • Experience in lubrication, vibration analysis, and thermography– Certifications is asset
  • Must be eligible to work in Canada without sponsorship

Salary Range: $145,000 – 170,000

The salary offered to the successful person for this position will consider education, experience, relevant skills and capability, geographic location and market conditions at the time of hire.
