Overview

An exceptional opportunity has arisen for an experienced investment operations analyst to join one of Canada’s reputed investment firms, based in Toronto. Reporting to the Director of Operations, this role offers the chance to work within a highly respected organisation managing a multi-billion CAD portfolio across multiple asset classes. Your expertise in derivatives and post-trade operations will be valued and developed.

You will play a pivotal part in ensuring seamless post-trade execution across a diverse range of derivative instruments, collaborating closely with trading and portfolio management teams, and external partners. What you\'ll do:

  • Manage the entire post-trade lifecycle for an array of derivative instruments including futures, options, interest rate swaps, credit default swaps, FX forwards, and other OTC products.
  • Oversee timely and accurate trade capture, affirmation, matching (such as DTCC Omega), and settlement processes.
  • Support collateral management processes and trades across multiple asset classes such as fixed income, equities, FX, and commodities while maintaining familiarity with global market conventions and cutoffs.
  • Act as the primary operations contact for Portfolio Managers and Traders, and collaborate closely with Fund Accounting and NAV Control teams.
  • Identify and analyse operational incidents, implement robust control measures to mitigate risks.
  • Contribute to system upgrades and automation initiatives and lead or participate actively in cross-functional projects including system implementations, workflow automation, and onboarding new products.

What you bring:

  • Undergraduate degree in business, accounting or finance is mandatory
  • Completion of relevant industry courses would be considered an asset.
  • Demonstrated 2+ years’ experience in trading operations with significant focus on derivatives within a capital markets operations, or investment management or broker/dealer environment is a must.
  • Proven understanding of listed and OTC derivatives markets including their operational nuances is a must have.
  • Proficiency using Excel and Word is required; experience working with OMS platforms, trade matching platforms (like DTCC) is required.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills combined with clear communication abilities, meticulous attention to detail, proven aptitude for quantitative analysis and qualitative problem solving is expected.
  • Self-motivation coupled with the ability to work independently under minimal supervision is important.
  • Full Canadian working rights are required.
