Overview

Senior Grill Cook at Mamakas Taverna

We are currently looking for an experienced and skilled grill cook for a full time position. The ideal candidate has a minimum of 2 years experience managing a high volume grill station in a fast paced dining experience.

Compensation

Compensation: $20-$22 an hour + tip out, health benefits after 3 months for full time employees

Location

Location: 80 Ossington Ave.

Summary of Responsibilities

Reporting to the Executive Chef, responsibilities and essential job functions include but are not limited to the following :

  • Managing the grill station during service, ensuring station is properly prepped and stocked
  • Consistently offer professional, friendly and proactive guest service while supporting fellow colleagues
  • Help coordinate production as it relates to restaurant and banquet functions
  • Assist the Executive Chef with developing new dishes
  • Actively share ideas, opinions and suggestions in daily shift briefings
  • Maintain proper rotation of product in all chillers to minimize wastage / spoilage
  • Ensure storeroom requisitions are accurate
  • Ensure the cleanliness and maintenance of all work areas, utensils, and equipment
  • Follow kitchen policies, procedures and service standards
  • Follow all safety and sanitation policies when handling food and beverage
  • Schedule: Afternoons, Evenings, Weekends, Holidays
  • Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
  • Previous experience in the Culinary field required (3+ years, 2 years as grill cook)
  • Experience maintaining and operating a grill station in a high volume kitchen
  • Strong interpersonal and problem solving abilities
  • Highly responsible & reliable
  • Ability to work well under pressure in a fast paced environment
  • Ability to work cohesively as part of a team
  • Ability to focus attention on guest needs, remaining calm and courteous at all times

Physical Aspects of Position (include but are not limited to) :

  • Constant standing and walking throughout shift
  • Frequent lifting and carrying up to 30 lbs
  • Occasional kneeling, pushing, pulling
  • Occasional ascending or descending ladders, stairs and ramps
